Arkansas Basketball Looks Strong In Season Opener

Razorback basketball has a newfound hope in their first year head coach Eric Musselman. Last Season, Arkansas decided to part ways with long-time coach Mike Anderson. It was hard not to like Mike Anderson due to his ties with Nolan Richarson’s National Championship team of 1994, but the Razorbacks haven’t made a sweet sixteen appearance since 1996. Musselman was head coach at Nevada for 4 seasons where he had a all-time record of 110-34 for the wolf pack.

Last year’s star center for the Razorbacks Daniel Gafford was drafted in the second round to the Chicago Bulls. However, Arkansas played a considerable amount of underclassmen last season. After watching this year’s season opener against rice, it was appertain that these underclassmen benefited from last year’s exposure.

Arkansas gaurds Mason Jones and Isaiah Joe shot lights-out with a combined 56 points while both shooting over 50% from the field. While senior Adrio Bailey also played well with 8 points and 9 boards. With Daniel Gafford gone, Bailey will have to step-up and take charge in the paint this year.

The Razorbacks ended up crushing Rice 91-43 giving hog fans an optimistic outlook for the rest of the season. Arkansas’s next game is against Montana on 11/16, so we’ll just have to wait and see if Musselman can bring these hogs to the big dance.

QOTD: How do you think the Razorbacks will finish in the SEC this season?
